UNC Hussman’s five certificate programs offer students the chance to specialize their Hussman experience in their area of interest.

Sam and Fabiana Ramirez of New York City, parents of recent UNC Hussman graduate Carolina Ramirez ’23, are giving back to the school and honoring their heritage with a generous gift supporting Spanish-language journalism programs and outreach.

Dr. Dulcie Murdock Straughan died December 30, 2023, in Chapel Hill after an extended illness. A beloved wife, mother and university professor, Dulcie was known for her warm and welcoming smile, her generosity of self and her love of family and friends.

UNC Hussman offers five certificate programs that prepare students to launch careers in some of the most popular and most competitive sectors of the journalism and communication industries — business, health, sports, fashion and politics.

 
Marty Baron, former executive editor for The Washington Post, will deliver the Frank A. Daniels Jr. Lecture on January 30, 2024, at 7 p.m. in Alumni Hall at the George Watts Hill Alumni Center.

UNC Hussman School of Journalism and Media alumna Erin Matson ’22 — considered the Michael Jordan of field hockey — will present the commencement address to the school’s graduating students on Saturday, May 11, 2024, at 3 p.m. in Carmichael Arena.
