ACEJMC Accreditation
The Accrediting Council for Education in Journalism and Mass Communication (ACEJMC) is the national organization that evaluates journalism and mass communication programs. All accredited programs are reviewed every six years.
UNC Hussman has been accredited since 1958.
The accreditation process includes an extensive self-study conducted the year prior to a site visit. The school’s most recent self-study was completed and submitted to ACEJMC in September 2020 and subsequently updated to reflect activity and changes during the COVID-related site visit pause and was resubmitted to ACEJMC in September 2021 in advance of the rescheduled site visit in October 2021. ACEJMC voted in April 2022 to provisionally reaccredit UNC Hussman and then revisited the school in January 2024 to evaluate progress toward the accrediting body’s Diversity and Inclusiveness standard.
In May 2024, the ACEJMC Accrediting Council voted unanimously to fully reaccredit the UNC Hussman School of Journalism and Media.
