The Cole Campbell Professional Development Fund helps student journalists attend workshops, career fairs, and meetings offered by various professional journalism organizations.
This fund honors Cole Campbell, a 1975 Carolina graduate, Daily Tar Heel editor, Morehead scholar, and debater. He reported for newspapers in Chapel Hill, Raleigh and Greensboro; served as editor of Tar Heel Magazine, the Virginian-Pilot in Norfolk and the Post-Dispatch in St. Louis; became a fellow at the Poynter Institute for Media Studies and a senior fellow at the Kettering Foundation; and served as dean of the Donald W. Reynolds School of Journalism at the University of Nevada-Reno.
