Established in 2009, the Carolinas Agency Experience internships are awarded annually to students demonstrating outstanding potential in the field of marketing communications from Wake Forest University's Schools of Business and the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill's Hussman School of Journalism and Media.

The Don and Barbara Curtis Excellence Fund for Extracurricular Student Activities is seeking applications for projects that support undergraduate majors in the Hussman School of Journalism and Media who participate in meaningful out-of-class activities that will help them in their mass communication careers.

Junior Tia Joy Davis of Norfolk, Va., received the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill’s 2012 Martin Luther King Jr. Scholarship. The J-school major is studying public relations and also pursuing a minor in entrepreneurship.

For the second consecutive year, two UNC Hussman School of Journalism and Media projects have been selected as finalists in the student category of the SXSW Interactive Awards.

The Mary Junck Research Colloquium series for the spring 2012 semester kicks off Thursday, Jan. 26 at 2 p.m. in the Freedom Forum Conference Center on Carroll Hall’s third floor.
Mary Beth Oliver, the Roy H. Park Distinguished Visiting Professor in the school, will present “Moral Beauty and Media Entertainment.”

Paul Steiger, editor-in-chief, CEO and president of ProPublica, will deliver the Reed Sarratt Distinguished Lecture on Monday, Feb. 20.
Helene Cooper, White House correspondent for The New York Times, will give the Nelson Benton Lecture on Tuesday, March 20.
