The former Journalism Alumni and Friends Association (JAFA) established a new alumni association following the rebranding of the Hussman School in 2015-16.
JAFA was formed in 1980 to help alumni and friends participate in school affairs. Leaders of JAFA established the Media and Journalism Alumni Association to expand its role in programming, networking and mentoring.
The new MJAA Board will support programs and events such as career mentoring, alumni receptions, student networking trips and resume workshops.

Since 2009, advertising students in the UNC Hussman School of Journalism and Media have been working directly with lifestyle brands big and small to envision new ideas. Workroom is both a space (an actual workroom for prototyping and building) and a way of thinking. The program pairs clients with students and challenges them to move beyond the page or screen to bring concepts to life.
