The UNC Hussman School of Journalism and Media celebrated its new name and kicked off its rebranding campaign with events in Carroll Hall on Aug. 28 involving students, faculty, staff, alumni and the University community.
The school’s Start Here / Never Stop tagline captures the idea that what students learn and experience here prepares them for successful careers and transitions in a dynamic media environment.
The event featured four of our star alumni with successful careers and interesting transitions of their own.
Our Mission
The new name for the UNC Hussman School of Journalism and Media follows the school’s evolution into a modern, innovative media school. It reflects the vibrant teaching, research and service that makes the school a leader among peers.
Our mission remains to create the next generation of journalists, strategic communicators, teachers and researchers prepared to ignite the public conversation and inform a robust democracy.
The discussion touched on topics such as industry trends, transitioning from student to professional life, transitioning from one industry segment to another, what panelists wish they had known when they first started out, the most important thing they've learned, etc.
