Carroll Hall to host May 28 Google I/O Extended developer conference

The UNC J-school’s Carroll Hall will host a Google I/O Extended developer conference event on May 28, coinciding with the annual Google I/O conference in San Francisco.
Google, GDG Triangle, ibiblio.org, the UNC Hussman School of Journalism and Media, UNC School of Information and Library Science, UNC Department of Computer Science, NCTA and American Underground will host coders, developers and students for an event that is part watch party and part developer workshop.
The event will be held from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. in the Freedom Forum Conference Center in Carroll Hall.
Google I/O Extended events will include live streamed sessions of Google I/O in San Francisco, code labs and more. The events are being brought to hundreds of cities around the globe, led by Google Developer Groups and working with local developers, higher education and tech partners.
The Chapel Hill event will feature codelabs, livestreaming of I/O from San Francisco, and a welcome by the Chapel Hill Google office.
Registration is now closed for the event, but volunteers opportunities are available.
