Senior wins John Sweeney Interview Fund Award to help launch advertising career

Daniela Madriz, a UNC Hussman School senior advertising major from Guatemala, was selected as the 2013 recipient of the John Sweeney Interview Fund Award.
Madriz will receive $1,400 for travel to pursue jobs and internships opportunities.
Madriz is interning as an art director at McKinney and interned in a similar role at Bartle Bogle Hegarty in New York during summer 2013. She also was a staffer in the Reese News Lab, the school’s experimental news and research project.
The fund was endowed by Trip Park, a 1989 graduate of the school, and his wife, Laura. It is open to graduate and undergraduate students.
Daniela shows tremendous promise as a young art director,” said Sweeney, Distinguished Professor in Sports Communication and the award’s namesake. “It is fitting that her award comes from Trip Park who was one of the top advertising art directors to graduate from UNC.”
