CABJ to host journalism workshop for minority high school students Feb. 23
The Carolina Association of Black Journalists (CABJ) and the UNC Hussman School of Journalism and Media will host a one-day journalism workshop for minority high school students on Saturday, Feb. 23, in Carroll Hall on the UNC campus. CABJ is a student collegiate chapter of the National Association of Black Journalists (NABJ) and a student organization of the school.
The purpose of the workshop is to give high school students exposure to the multifaceted field and study of journalism and mass communication. CABJ members will work collaboratively with participants throughout the day, and participants will also have the opportunity to meet UNC faculty and professionals to discuss writing skills and career opportunities.
Applicants should be high school juniors or seniors involved in school publications or media. Students who are generally interested in journalism careers are also encouraged to apply. Registration requires that each applicant submit a writing sample. A $25 registration fee is also required and includes breakfast, lunch and dinner.
